Apple will shift half of its 6 4.7-inch iPhone production line from Foxconn to Pegatron. As quoted from Digitimes via AppleInsider, it is reported that Pegatron has won a major contract for the iPhone 6 this after 'only' a fraction assemble old iPhone production.
Digitimes also reported that Apple may ship 50 million iPhone 6 until the end of 2014. The amount of trust given by Apple to Pegatron to assemble the iPhone 6 is also a result of Apple's plans who want to reduce their dependence on Foxconn. Besides of course a good relationship already established between the two over the years.
Back in May, rumors surfaced that Pegatron will assemble only 15% 6 4.7-inch iPhone with the remainder will be assembled at Foxconn. Then in June, that number rose to 30% for Pegatron.
As information, up to 40% of Pegatron's revenue came from the manufacture of Apple devices, such as the iPhone 5c, iPhone 4s, and iPad mini. The iPhone 6 itself is rumored to be announced by Apple on the 9th of September with a new design and more speeding up to 2Ghz A8 chip.
